Description:
The majority of people who struggle with substance use disorder also meet diagnostic criteria for one or more other mental health challenges. As treatment methods for SUD continue to develop, it has become clear that substance use can not be treated in isolation from other mental health issues and vice-versa. This seminar will explore the implications of treating patients with co-occurring disorders, and review some of the unique challenges involved when working with such patients. We will explore the most common mental health challenges and review specific strategies for treating them in the presence of SUD.
